This is a republication of a work that originally appeared in Peckhamia. It describes the elaborate system of tracheae in salticid spiders, as reconstructed from serial sections of the spider Phidippus. Many spiders have "dual: respiratory systems, one consisting of paired book lungs in association with the heart and respiratory pigments carried in the hemolymph, and the other associated with the elaborate tracheae.
