Self-portrayal of Japan

Book cover
Written by renowned Japanese academic, journalist and politician Yosaburō Takekoshi in 1939. It tries to reconcile Japanese history and culture with that of Western civilizations. This book can be seen as a last-ditch effort to counter the rhetoric of "irreconcilable differences" (between Asian and Western cultures) in contemporary Japanese militaristic argumentation. The book contains both English and Japanese (from p. 76). The Japanese text has been scanned in reverse, last page first, etc.
