Queen of Blood
It is a horror novel with a good plot and interesting subject. Smith digs back to his own horrific roots, to serve up a tale chock with violence and dread. If you've read House of Blood, you can expect the same level of teeth-grinding terror. Dark fantasy and psychological suspense might be the new norm, but the old slice and dice set hasn't kicked the bucket yet. Smith's lean and mean prose never lets up, allowing for a smooth, leisurely reading experience.
