In addition to her trusty sidekick Lula, she now has a nearly seven foot tall transvestite musician (who's not gay), and her pistol-packing Grandma in her conspicuous entourage.
The case this time is to bring in a waitress who's skipped bail. Like all her other assignments, this one sounds easier than it looks, and before you can say "pepper spray" things start heating up. To make matters worse, Morelli's family has the grapevine buzzing, and her sleazy cousin Vinnie has assigned her long-time arch rival to the same case.
The steam picks up this time around, and the sparks between Stephanie and Joe are as hot as Trenton in a heat wave.

Uncle Mo, as he's known in "the burg", Stephanie's working class, Trenton neighborhood, owns an ice-cream parlor/candy store, has missed his court appearance and seems to have left town. Stephanie's on the case and is soon caught in the middle of anti-drug vigilantes, murdered men and porno films. This is another terrific ride through Trenton with Ms Evanovich's cast of unrivaled, wonderful, quirky characters and Stephanie gets lots of help from her mentor, Ranger and vice cop, Joe Morelli. The writing is witty, irreverent and down to earth, with dialogue that will have you laughing out loud. Though the mystery itself is a bit of a stretch, it doesn't matter, because spending time in Trenton, with Stephanie and company, is such a joy. Start with One for the Money and read all the books in this series. They will put a smile on your face.

Destined to become Weaver's partner and savior in routing the baddest of the bad guys, Schwartz is vividly sketched by the author as one of the most original characters in the contemporary genre. This book is worth reading just to savor the chapters that she inhabits
