Winter Adventures of Three Boys

Book cover
The author was a missionary working in the wilder parts of Northern Canada. He has described his work in "By Canoe and Dog-Train", but in this book and in the book to which this is a sequel, in which a retired missionary had invited three British teenagers to come and stay with him while experiencing the way of life of thos parts, he describes for us the life-style of the missionary, in particular the way in which he travelled and gained the food he needed. In the summer they get about by canoe, but in the winter the lakes and rivers will be frozen, so they make use of dog-trains, which would be impossible in the summer. So the boys in this second book about them have to learn new skills before thay can be taken out on various trips to the wild. Like its predecessor this book is very readable, and indeed you will be fascinated by the tale it tells. --This text refers to the Kindle Edition edition.
