The Complete Poems of Sir Thomas Moore

Book cover
A collection of verse by an Irish romantic poet, composer and satirist Thomas Moore. Moore was a true patriot, born in Ireland in 1779, and a close friend of Byron. Most of his works are permeated by love for his native land and worry for the fortune of the country. Avoiding intensive atmosphere, pathos struggle, conflicts and dramatic effects, the author puts the aesthetics of Ireland at the center of his works. All contrast are smoothed over and reconciled, evil effaces itself. Moore's poetry, as well as creations of other romantic authors of the time, is notable for bright epithets and metaphors.
