Each emblem consists of a motto (most of them Latin, a few French or Greek), a woodcut ill., and an explanation in French. Emblems include the devices of kings and rulers, symbols from the Bible and classical history, etc Dedication dated "ce quinzieme ianuier 1556." Second ed.
