Contributions to the Theory of Natural Selection

Book cover
Alfred Russel Wallace (1823 –1913) was a British naturalist, explorer, geographer, anthropologist and biologist, best known as the co-discoverer, with Darwin, of evolution by natural selection. “Contributions to the Theory of Natural Selection”, published in 1870, contains reprints of his earlier papers and indicates his differences with Darwin's views. Some points in Wallace’s work differ considerably from those of Darwin, in particular, the possibility of changing of anthropoid apes into humans without interference of a supreme force. At any rate, Wallace will always be regarded as one of the genius creators on the Theory of Natural Selection. This work played a great role in forming and spreading of the conception of selection and evolution.
