Olive Emilie Albertina Schreiner, a South African writer and political activist, is well remembered as an eloquent spokesman for feminist and pacifist causes. Woman and Labour, published in 1911, are the notes for her feminist credo, which quickly developed into the “bible” of the early-20th-century feminist movement.
