This review is from: A Little Princess (Paperback) This book was a favorite of mine in my childhood, and, when I returned as an adult to re-read it to my own daughter, I discovered it all over again. This is a story about a different kind of princess than one might imagine; a princess that is an orphan - lonely, cold, hungry and abused. Sara Crewe begins life as the beloved, pampered daughter of a rich man. When he dies a pauper, she is thrown on the non-existent mercy of her small-minded, mercen

Its so amazing that you make available the works and writings of one of the pillars of Physics, Max Planck in the "Treatise of Thermodynamics". Reading his work give us a glimplse into the mind of this great genious. His style of discussion is more profound and diverse, a mark of his genious. Although many modern thermodynamic books are now available these days, it is still invaluable to read an early books such as these as this gives us a idea how certain laws and principles were developed

This has to be the book to shake me to the core more than any other, so deeply perceptive of the human nature is the writer that it feels like you are looking into the most horrifying depths of your own soul and what you could be capable of. the characters being all kids makes it even more poignant. a must read and one book to keep

Fantastic. I loved the book!! But the movie was much worse than the book. I would defiently recommend this book to anyone, although some parts kind of made me mad, so that's why I only gave it a 8 outta 10. But I was impressed with the whole in-between heaven and earth..I thought the author had a great idea coming up with that. This book had me on the edge of my seat, ready to read it at any time, any where.

Her method throughout is rigidly scientific. With infinite care and labour she has collected a huge mass of documentary evidence, and, as she justly claims, 'If I then fail to convince the incredulous that secret forces of revolution exist, it will not be for want of evidence.' She is never dogmatic. Where the evidence is conclusive, the moral is driven home. If there is doubt, in the absence of some connecting link not yet discovered, she presents her case and leaves it to the judgment of her r

Although the author is fully aware of the gaps and obscurities contained in this small volume, he has, nevertheless, resisted a temptation to add to it the results obtained from the investigations of the last five years, fearing that thus its unified.

It's like the OLD Stephen King ... kinda

It's a little bit of Lord of The Flies meets Tommyknockers, but it FEELS like the old pre-accident Stephen King. You get really excited, you feel the story really coming together, and then it fizzles .... It goes to a place where not even the die-hard King fans can swallow. SO disappointing! At the end of the book is a little blurb from King telling you that he started the book back in the 80s (pre-accident) and finished it in 2009ish. As soon as I read that, the failure of the book made per
