The book of the author, probably better known as a journalist and Catholic apologist, is a series of the mystery stories, written in the style of E. Poe. A Norfolk priest Father Brown, famous Chesterton’s hero, shadows thieves, betrayers and murderers, being a connoisseur of human nature. So, being just an amateur detective, sometimes he is the only one solve the mystery. Chesterton has been called the "prince of paradox", and his “Father Brown” story is a remarkable proof of this statement. After all, Brown solves not only crimes itself, but the paradox that lies in the heart of them.
