The Book Thief

by Markus Zusak

It’s just a small story really, about among other things: a girl, some words, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist-fighter, and quite a lot of thievery. . . . This is an unforgettable story about the ability of books to feed the soul.

While it might be easy to dismiss this book as just another Holocaust novel or an "easy" teen read, doing so would be a mistake. Zusak has crafted a gripping tale that leads the reader through a rich story that left me in tears at its end.
