Botchan (Master Darling)
by Natsume Soseki
Added by: Hope Formore ...
Botchan is a remarkable novel written by Natsume Sōseki in 1906. Since then it has been very popular in Japan and in other countries read mainly by children. The story rises the questions of morality so with the help of it children start to understand the world and their role in it. The author Natsume Soseki worked for some time as a teacher and his experience became the basis of the story. As know, he was born in Tokyo but then had to move to Matsuyama which was pretty difficult for him. Natsume describes his feelings and his expectations. It is also quite interesting that the author omits the pronouns in the first nine paragraphs. The main character's name is Botchan. Like the author himself, he was born in Tokyo, graduated from Tokyo Academy of Physics and becomes a teacher. He is of high morality and high values. Other characters are Yamaarashi, Akashatsu, Nodaiko, Uranari who also have chosen teaching as their mission in life.

After a while I heard asplashing sound of water about our family well, and going there, sawKiyo washing the bag strung on the end of the stick. I opened the bagand found...
